New performer joins Abilene show on Saturday, Aug. 22

GRF WEEKEND DANCES

Abilene will perform Saturday, Aug. 22, in Clubhouse 2, starting at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6. Reserving tables is prohibited.

During the show, the band will welcome new lead guitarist Lee Offenhauer, a 40-year veteran of the Orange County music scene, with almost 60 years of experience on the fretboard. Whether the tune is a love song, contemporary country, or flat out rock and roll, his approach is subtle and lyrical, always keeping an eye to the needs of the song.

Abilene is Leisure World Seal Beach’s No. 1 country rock band, going strong for over 20 years.

The band includes Offenhauer on guitar and vocals; Jim Greer on drums; Vickie Van Ert vocals; Greg Johnson on keyboards and vocals; and Bob McAlister on bass and vocals.

The Transportation Department is providing shuttle transportation to and from the GRF weekend dances through the end of August. To be picked up, call 562-472-1367, and a shuttle will be dispatched. Passengers can be picked anywhere in Leisure World. The pickup location must be where the resident can see the approaching bus and the driver of the bus can see the resident. Shuttles will return people to their homes after the dance. The last shuttle will depart the venue at 9:20 p.m.
