LW Men’s Golf League
Fourteen members of the Leisure World men’s golf league began their round at Willowick Golf Course in Santa Ana on a humid Aug. 10 under sunny skies.
Only two golfers scored at or below net par, with most everyone else hovering just a few strokes over par. There were three birdies— one each by Gary Stivers, Fujio Norihiro and Clay Fischer. The two closest to the pin challenges were won by Fisher on hole No. 4, and Sam Choi on No. 12. Norihiro and Mike Jimenez had fewest putts for the round.
A flight winners (handicaps of 1-19): Fisher, first place; Norihiro, second; Choi and Jim Goltra, third; Stivers, fourth; Bruno Santillo, fifth; Kyle Van and Seon Kim, sixth.
B flight winners (handicaps of 20 and higher): Tom Ross and Jimenez, first place; Sergio Borbon, second; Dom Bautista, third; Randy Massaro, fourth; Bob Munn, fifth.
The league plays every Monday at one of four local courses, all within 15 -20 minutes of Leisure World. Advance reservations are required with a sign-up sheet available at each round.
There is a prize pool for each round that players are not obligated to enter.
Those interested in playing can contact Gary Stivers at 714313-3697 or Dave LaCascia at 801-674-5974.
