First Christian Church
First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the holy Bible, verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.
Pastor’s Message
Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, was chosen by Jesus to follow him. Peter was known as the disciple who, on the night Jesus was arrested, swore he would go to prison or even death for Jesus. Yet a few hours later, Peter denied even knowing Jesus three times.
After the resurrection of Jesus, Peter spent the next 30 years teaching Jews about the resurrected Christ who established a new covenant for them in order that they might be “born again to a living hope and obtain an inheritance which will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,” 1 Peter 1:4.
1 Peter 1:8 says, “though you have not seen him, you love him, and though you do not see him now, but believe in him, obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.” That same message is still given to all throughout the world today.
Weekly Services
Sunday services are held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. and traditional services with hymnal music led by Janet Ray with Ruth Bonnema at the piano. The choir will sing this week.
Saturday services are held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. and include contemporary songs of worship, led by Gregory Black with guitar and vocal accompaniment.
Midweek Studies
Melli Herrera leads the women’s Bible study on Mondays from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
The Bible study is on Thursdays from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and the prayer and Bible study on Fridays from 4-5 p.m.
Residents are welcome to attend any service or Bible study.
Scripture of the Week
“But as for me, I will hope continually and will praise You yet more and more. My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness and of Your salvation all day long, for I do not know the sum of them” Psalm 71:14.
