Mutual 8’s Forouz Ertl elected to vacant GRF Board seat

The GRF Board elected Mutual 8 resident Forouz “Fran” Ertl to represent Mutual 16 on the GRF Board of Directors on July 23.

The Mutual 16 board seat was vacated by Janet Isom on June 9. In accordance with GRF’s bylaws, a five-day call for candidates exclusive to Mutual 16 was held from June 17-22, during which no candidates came forward. The call for candi- dates was then extended to all GRF members—regardless of Mutual—and applications were accepted from July 8-22.

Six candidates applied and made presentations to the GRF Board during a July 23 special session, and Ertl was selected via secret silent vote of 15 GRF Board Directors.

In the interest of complete transparency and consistency with GRF standard community meeting practices, the board’s final vote tally was as follows:

• Forouz Ertl: 8 votes

• Veronica Miller Start: 5 votes

• Anne R. Potter: 2 votes

• Carol A. Stern Levine: 0 votes

• Barry Lukoff: 0 votes

• Martha Destra: 0 votes Ertl commenced her duties immediately and was welcomed by the GRF Board at its July 28 meeting.
