A precious silver tray finds its way back home!

Recently, a resident donated a tarnished tray to the Friends of the Library boutique. The boutique’s perspicacious cleaner, Danuta Lambert, took it home and brought it back to its original shining glory. It was put on display for sale and, when the same resident stopped by, she was so pleased with her restored tray that she bought it back for $4.

This was an unusual event but it illustrates well the tender loving care the volunteers in the boutique provide to donations. Recognizing that most things were valued possessions of LW residents at one time but now need repurposing, the volunteers restore and creatively and attractively display them for sale. Thus, they become valued possessions to someone new and generate a small profit for the benefit of LW Library services. The Christmas in July sale began July 6 and will run through July 18.

A Friends of the Library volunteer used Bar Keeper's Friend to polish this silver tray.
