The interactive map draws from nine air quality sensors located throughout Leisure World.

The website includes an explanation of whether current pollution poses any health risks, plus historical information on the area’s Air Quality Index (AQI) and levels of airborne particulate matter.

Anyone can install an air quality monitor, available for purchase on the PurpleAir website, and set it up to contribute data to the publicly accessible air quality network. The data integrates into the Environmental Protection Agency’s AirNow Fire and Smoke Map, among other platforms.
