Club to screen Jane Goodall ‘Famous Last Words’ Documentary
SENIORS FOR PEACE
Seniors for Peace will meet today, May 7, at 2 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 1, to screen the documentary “Famous Last Words,” Dr. Jane Goodall’s final interview before her death in October 2025 at the age of 91. The interview with Goodall was filmed by Netflix in March 2025 with the understanding that it would not be released until after her death.
Goodall was a world-renowned primatologist, anthropologist, ethologist and conservationist, whose work with chimpanzees fundamentally changed the way people see, think about and engage with primates. She was also the founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and United Nation Messenger of Peace.
In the interview, Goodall reflects on her life and work with her signature blend of calm and obstinance. She shares stories from her early observations of the fictional character Tarzan’s wife (“his Jane was a real wimp”) to her thoughts on free will, how to win arguments, ex-husbands, and the pull she felt toward spirituality in her final years. She also reveals some thoughts she’d never disclosed, even to her own family, lists her regrets, and muses about who among the “cloud contingent” she hoped would greet her on the other side. It’s a powerful, inspiring, fascinating and moving interview.
People can come as early as 1:30 to socialize and enjoy some refreshments. All are welcome to attend. Call Pat Kruger at 562-357-4040 for more information.
