LWers can check out mobility aid equipment for free in Clubhouse 6
GOLDEN AGE FOUNDATION EVENTS
The Golden Age Foundation (GAF), alongside the Salvation Army, will hold a donation event in the Amphitheater parking from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 11.
Donation bags are available in Clubhouses 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 plus the LW Library and LW Weekly offices.
In addition to giving residents a convenient venue to drop off donations, the program also saves money by cutting expensive haul-away costs for things previously disposed of at the 1.8-Acre site.
The Salvation Army accepts donations of clean, gently used, salable household items, including clothing, bedding, kitchenware, small appliances, electronics, toys, sporting goods, books, art, home decor, and small to medium furniture.

The first sponsorship for mulitcultural festival
The GAF received the first sponsorship from the LW Korean Community Church (LWKCC), for the upcoming multicultural festival on July 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Amphitheater.
The 90-minute event will be a showcase for different cultures in Leisure World. The GAF is still open to cultural groups who want to be a part of the show.
GAF appreciates LWKCC’s consistent support since the church moved into the community, and its partnership with the GAF over the years.
LWKCC is under the leadership of Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Yong Jang-Young. For more information on the church, see page 7.
The GAF is still looking for additional sponsorships. Those who are interested should text 562-301-5339.

••• Mobility Aid Program The Mobility Aid program is one of the GAF’s core programs. The program provides a variety of equipment designed to promote independence to residents with mobility impairments and to decrease the risk of falling. These services are offered free of charge. There are five types of mobility aids in a variety of sizes available, including wheelchairs, transport chairs, four wheel rollators with seats, knee rollators and front wheel walkers.
Two trained volunteers staff the office in Clubhouse 6 near the ping-pong tables each day, Monday through Friday from 9-11 a.m. (except holidays). Volunteers will provide assistance in choosing the right piece of equipment, adjusting it to a person’s specific need and provide instruction on proper use. There is also an afterhours telephone assistance line that is staffed by volunteers to provide information and urgent assistance when needed, call 562-431-9589.
Each year the GAF loans approximately 2,500 mobility aids to residents. Mobility Aid items left out should be returned to the office.
