Pepperdine University Survey
The GRF Recreation Department is co-sponsoring a new study with Pepperdine University to examine how seniors view and utilize technology to support independent living.
This is not market research. The survey is being conducted by social science researchers Dr. Doreen Shanahan and Dr. Jillian Alderman.
Staying independent in our own homes as we age is a goal we all share, but the tools we use to get there vary for everyone. For many, technology acts as a daily companion— whether it is video calling family or streaming favorite shows. Others view technology as a vital partner using assistive technologies such as smart speakers and wearable health monitors as bridges to a selfsufficient lifestyle. On the other hand, many find modern tech frustrating, intrusive or simply unnecessary.
Participation is easy. Just open a smartphone camera and point it at the square code above.
When a link appears on the screen, tap it to get started. Paper copies of the survey are also available at the Recreation Office, located on the ground floor of Building 5.
Responses are anonymous. For more information, email the researchers at doreen.shanahan@pepperdine.edu or jillian. alderman@pepperdine.edu.
