COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM

Residents who are interested in learning about how to use a two-way radio are welcome to join the next LW Community Emergency Response Team’s (LW CERT) safety class on Friday, March 27, at 9 a.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 9.

LW CERT President Catherine O’Brien will teach the basics of operating a two-way radio with GRF Safety Manager Eloy Gomez and LW CERT Vice President Fara Q Macartney demonstrating a mockemergency scenario. Those who already have two-way radios are welcome to bring them to the class. This training will cover the basics and a sign-up sheet will be available for residents who are interested in more indepth training on using a radio in emergency situations.

Neighbor- 4- Neighbor (N4N) updates will be discussed as LW CERT continues to promote ways to incorporate it into daily life in Leisure World. N4N is not a Leisure World- or Mutual-sponsored program but a model adopted by the City of Seal Beach. It is based on the old neighborhood watch program. The community will get through any emergency situation through banding together to help one another.
