Faith Christian Assembly
The Book of Jonah is an example of the lengths God goes to reach out to people and draw them to himself. So much so, in fact that Jonah became enraged and ran in the opposite direction of God’s command because he didn’t want to reach out to the people of Nineveh, whom he saw as evil. Jonah thought that if he ran away, God would not be able to bring about his purposes for Nineveh. But it was foolish and arrogant to assume Jonah was God’s only option to bring about his plan.
When Jonah thought the way to escape the Lord was to catch a boat headed away from Nineveh, Jonah 1:4 says, “But the LORD sent out a great wind on the sea.” The Lord knew that Jonah did not want to obey him. God used a great fish to preach to Jonah. God’s providence will not be denied.
The heavenly Father uses anything at his disposal to advance his purposes. Everything is at his disposal for his use. God can make use of anything for his eternal good. As the Psalmist said, “It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn Your statutes” Psalm 119:71.
