Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore
On Sunday, March 15, the congregations of Redeemer Lutheran Church and St. Theodore of Canterbury Episcopal Church will celebrate the third Sunday of Lent at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Murray Finck will preside over the holy Communion service at 13564 St. Andrews Drive. All are welcome to join.
People can join after service for coffee, tea, cookies and snacks in the Fellowship Hall.
The congregation will accept new members in March. Those interested should speak to Rev. Murray Finck or one of the church council members.
People are invited to join the Lenten reflection study and supper on Wednesdays at 4 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. The group will meet March 18 and 25. People are asked to sign up on the sheet in the entryway so the church can have a head count to plan the meal.
This year the Lenten gatherings is titled “Voices Along the Way.” Learn from five biblical people who were connected with the passion of Jesus. The meeting will begin at 3 p.m., followed by a meal together at 4 .
The bazaar committee will have twice-a-month crafting get-togethers on the first and third Mondays at 10 a.m. The next meeting is Monday, March 16, in the Fellowship Hall. This will allow the congregation to better prepare for the spring and fall bazaars. The Gospel lesson this week is from John 9:1-41. Samuel is told by God that David is to be anointed King. David was the youngest son. He was a shepherd. In the Gospel of John, Jesus also anoints the man born blind with only spit and dirt, and then declares himself the light of the world.
God uses the ordinary to do extraordinary things. Believers were anointed at baptism as priest, prophet and king to do extraordinary things in their ordinary lives. Christians also received a candle and were told to keep the flame of faith alive in their hearts and to be a light to the world.
