Residents can drop off old batteries and e-waste on Saturday, March 14, from 10 a.m.-noon in the Amphitheater Parking Lot. The free service is provided by the Golden Age Foundation and Teens Against E-Waste. GRF ID is required.

Battery guidelines: Alkaline, lithium, and hearing aid batteries should be dropped off in separate plastic bags to ensure proper recycling. Only household batteries will be accepted; no batteries from businesses.

E-waste items accepted: Computer monitors, televisions, laptops, CRT monitors, DVD players, scanners, fax machines, copy machines, printers, radios, stereos, speakers, vacuum cleaners, microwaves, mini refrigerators and other small household electronics.

E-waste items not accepted: Mercury-containing equipment, light bulbs, florescent tubes, aerosol cans, liquids, standard-size refrigerators, washing machines, dryers or dishwashers.

Teens Against E-Waste is a student-run, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. It aims to raise public awareness of proper e-waste disposal, take action towards a greener planet and engage teenage leaders. The international nonprofit was founded Joshua Lou, then a high school freshman, in spring 2021 in Cypress, California.

Six student and four parent volunteers from the nonprofit will assist at the event. Students will wear yellow vests and GAF volunteers will wear red vests.
