Community Church
Community Church is halfway into the season of light and love and the world seems to only be getting darker and darker. Pastor Johan Dodge was once told, “If you are going to do something to advance the kin-dom of God in this world, expect opposition.” When living in a time of opposition to the way of light and love, it important for Christians to find their voice and secure their footing in opposition of the way of hate and war.
This season, the church is taking a critical look at what people have been taught to believe, and asking each other: “What does it mean to be a child of God and a follower of the way of Jesus in the world today?”
Community Church’s Lenten “Shine in the Darkness” suggestions this week are:
• March 13: Call a friend.
• March 14: Give a meal card to an unhoused person.
• March 15: Mini Easter, be kind to someone today.
• March 16: Let someone in front of you in line.
• March 17: Thank someone in service to others.
• March 18: Give a stranger a compliment. People are welcome to arrive to service early for a cup of coffee and stay after for a time of light refreshment. The service is filled with beautiful music and a positive, progressive message. The church is located near St. Andrews Gate at 14000 Church Place.
Those who have been caught up in the darkness of the time and are seeking a space of light, love and a message of encouragement, are encouraged to visit Community Church on Sunday, March 15, at 9:30 a.m. All are welcome who are welcoming to all.
