LW Men’s Golf League plays locally on Mondays

An overcast morning greeted 13 players of the LW Golf League on Feb. 23 as they arrived at the 6,000-yard par 70 Willowick Golf Course in Santa Ana.

With minor course challenges, but some difficult pin positions, it was not expected that players would score well, and just three of the players would shoot net at or under par. There were five birdies—one each by Jae Choi, Jim Goltra, Kyle Van, Steve Earl and Bruno Santillo.

Closest to the pin on both the 140-yard par 3 fourth and 12th holes was Van. Goltra and Clay Fisher had fewest putts for the A flight, while Bob Munn and Santillo had fewest in the B.

A flight winners: Fisher, 1 under, first place; Van, even par, second; Goltra, third; Sam Choi, fourth; Gary Stivers, Seon Kim, Earl and Jae Choi, fifth.

B flight winners: Santillo, 5 under 65, first place; Munn, second; Gene Vesely and Mike Jimenez, third; Won Park, fourth.

The league plays every Monday at one of four local courses. Advance league reservations are required with a sign-up sheet available at each round.

There is a prize pool for each round that players are not obligated to enter. Those interested in playing can contact Gary Stivers at 714-313-3697 or Dave LaCascia at 801- 674-5975.
