This Sunday is the second Sunday of Lent. Traditionally, Lent has been a 40-day season of prayer, fasting, penitence, and self-denial. In these times of darkness and uncertainty, think of Lent this year as an opportunity to flip the narrative. As an alternative to making sacrifices, consider the idea of being the light in the darkness, the warmth in the cold of winter; of bringing love and kindness to everyone.

Community Church has a list of daily suggestions to help “Shine in the Darkness” including giving a compliment to a stranger or sharing a meal with a friend for the 44 days of Lent. People can stop by Community Church to pick up a copy on Sundays or in the office Tuesday-Thursdays from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Community Church meets on Sundays at 9:30 a.m. at 14000 Church Place. All are welcome.
