RELATIVELY SPEAKING

Megan Avalos (center), daughter of Michael and Rose Ban - field of Mutual 8, was bestowed the honor of Los Alamitos School District Teacher of the Year for 2026 at a special ceremony at Rossmoor Elementary, where she teaches fifth grade. Megan is a tenured 15-year elementary school teacher who has also served as summer school principal for five sessions and substitute assistant principal for Los Alamitos Elementary. Presenting the award is superintendent of Schools Andrew Pulver (left) and Rossmoor Principal Amy Coltey (right).
