Monica Grundmann
1931-2026
Monica Grundmann, Mutual 10 resident for over 12 years, passed away peacefully just two days shy of her 95th birthday.
Monica was a strong woman who lived life to the fullest. She faced life’s challenges with courage and grace, bravely battling cancer in her later years. After the loss of her husband, Jack, and her oldest daughter, Margaret Irizarry, Monica continued to move forward with determination, humor and an unwavering spirit.
Monica found joy in staying active and connected. She was a member of the American Legion and the Sunshine Club. She enjoyed line dancing, yoga and her love of music led her to her final accomplishment: learning to play the ukulele. She was also active in Holy Family Catholic Church as a Eucharistic Minister.
Monica is survived by her two sisters, her four daughters, Cathy White, Mary Anne Ortega, Barbara Green and Annette Rygh and her sons-inlaw, Herb Irizarry, Dave White, Willie Ortega and John Rygh.
She was a devoted grandmother to 10 grandchildren, and a cherished great-grandmother to 11 great-grandchildren. Monica is also survived by many nieces and nephews, who were all so special to her.
Monica will be remembered for her strength, laughter, her love of family, and how she embraced life at every stage. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28, with a Mass at Holy Family in Leisure World at 10:30 a.m. with a reception immediately following in Clubhouse 1.
