Senior pastor Jang Young Yong began LW Korean Community Church’s (LWKCC) worship service on Feb. 8 with a message from Psalm 119:108 titled “Worship and Freewill Offering.”

Worship is a time that brings joy to God, and it should be offered with reverence and holy fear. When believers come before God, the heart is more important than the form, and worship should be offered with a willing heart.

Those who examine themselves in the light of God’s selfexistent word are those who truly look to God. Worship that is offered naturally—remembering the grace of salvation through Jesus’ companionship— and offered with joy, not compulsion, is true worship. Therefore, a believer’s worship should include motives of gratitude and praise, voluntary willingness and joyful delight.

As the verse says, “According to the blessing the Lord your God has given you, you shall give a freewill offering according to your ability,” coming with gratitude according to each person’s circumstances and ability is the worship that God is pleased to receive.

Believers must remember and praise God’s hand that held and guided them even when they made mistakes and stumbled. They must offer gratitude and praise to God who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds, to the great God whose wisdom is boundless and whose power is immense. Worship should include a confession acknowledging God’s help and his presence.

Members of the LW Korean Community Church visited the Noah's Ark Museum. Through worship, the work of the Holy Spirit takes place. The grace of Pentecost, when the early church believers gathered daily in the temple with one heart, is also present in worship today.

Worship offered with a pure heart brings understanding, reveals the precious value of time, opportunities, and relationships, and leads to shared grace.

The confession in Psalm 119:11, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you,” becomes a believer’s joy and strength in every moment of crisis.

Ultimately, worship is a life of praising God eternally, where faith, joy and gratitude are intertwined through the work of the Holy Spirit.

LWKCC holds a worship service at the sanctuary every Sunday at 11:30 a.m. to “plant God’s will in the ground,” and an early morning prayer service at the sanctuary led by the senior pastor at 6 a.m. Tuesday-Saturday. The church is located next to St. Andrews Gate at 14000 Church Place. For more information, call 714-323-0897, or email tyongjang10@gmail.com.
