Feb. 23 program will focus on cymbidiums

SOUTH COAST ORCHID SOCIETY

The South Coast Orchid Society will present a program titled “Cymbidiums Love Long Beach!” on Monday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. at Whaley Park Community Center, 5620 E. Atherton St., Long Beach. The event is free and open to the public. Cymbidiums have been grown outdoors in Southern California for well over a century. They are almost a perfect fit for the climate, provided they have a little protection on the hottest days of summer. The easy-to-grow spring bloomers come in many colors and sizes and its flowers usually last for several weeks. Orchids grown by members and guests will be on display.
