Presidents’ Council Meeting Recap

Feb. 4, Clubhouse 4 and Zoom Tele-Video Conference

The regular monthly meeting of the Presidents’ Council of Leisure World Seal Beach was convened at 1:34 p.m. by President Rich Carson, on Wednesday, Feb. 4, in Clubhouse 4, Zoom Tele-Video Conference and YouTube Live.

The following is a recap:

• Presidents’ Council meeting minutes of Jan. 7 were approved by the Council to stand as written.

• GRFPresidentLindaHerman, provided updates on the following GRF activities: a town hall meeting on the topic solar for Leisure World on Monday, Feb. 9, in Clubhouse 4, from 2-4 p.m.; GRF Board passing the following items at its January meeting: addition of the ADA compliant restroom in Clubhouse 4, replacement of the HVAC unit in Clubhouse 2, and several updated documents.

Herman also informed the council of a rule that clarifies entry to Leisure World by federal law enforcement, and a procedure that outlines stepby- step process by security, all of which are available on the LWSB website.

In addition, Herman expressed her optimism regarding the direction of Leisure World and stated that it is her honor and pleasure to work alongside Dave Potter and David Norvell. RECAP

• Service Maintenance Director Ruben Gonzalez provided information regarding wipes in the pipes and informed the council of unusual findings in the pipes and what it takes to remove the blockage. Gonzalez also gave a brief explanation on how to prevent stoppages and tips on how to properly dispose of waste.

• Security Services Director Victor Rocha provided information on 24-hour nurse services available to all LW residents. He also informed the council of the coyotes’ activities inside Leisure World and provided tips on how to stay safe and alert.

• Senior Director of Facilities Mark Weaver provided information on GRF projects as follows: pickleball courts will be resurfacing in March; completed upgrade of traffic signal; completion of 99.9% of the roofs in Building C and the library; and the completion of chain link fence project phase two on Golden Rain Road. Weaver also provided information on an RFP (request for proposal) for pest control.

• Senior Director of Mutual Administration Jodi Hopkins provided information on behalf of Ripa Barua regarding elections. She stated that Mutual Administration is busy with elections, and all Mutual secretaries will be receiving multiple emails regarding pick-up for posting sheets and notices for deadlines. Hopkins informed the council that they will be receiving an email with all the candidates for all Mutuals every Friday at the end of day.

Hopkins also announced the promotion of Epa Barua to Stock Transfer Manager position and provided an update on the Stock Transfer Escrow report, transfers, financial reviews, and attorney trust reviews. Hopkins also discussed an updated pet registration form available in the Stock Transfer office and the City of Seal Beach pet application.

• Executive Director D avid Norvell expressed his gratitude meeting with Mutual presidents and having one-on-one’s and receiving their input. Norvell also informed the council that his offer to speak with everyone continues to be open.

• Executive Manager Dave Potter informed the council that the finance team is beginning work on the Mutual annual audits.

• Next council meeting: Wednesday, March 4, at 1:30 p.m., at Clubhouse 4, Zoom Tele-Video Conference and YouTube LIVE.
