LW Baptist Church
LW Baptist will meet for worship on Sunday, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 2.
LW Baptist’s prayer regarding worship not only every Sunday morning, but every day is “Savior, like a shepherd, lead us.” That is why Jesus is called Emmanuel, for he is “God With Us.” He also led ancient Israel, as the book of Deuteronomy makes clear.
Israel in those days was a theocracy, and the patriarch Jacob identified God as the Shepherd of Israel. God appointed “undershepherds,” beginning with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, and later King David, whose ancestral line produced the Lord Jesus Christ, who called himself the “Good Shepherd.”
Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them; and they follow me.” Jesus told his contemporaries, “Other sheep I have which are not of this fold, and I must bring them; and they will be one flock with one shepherd.”
Looking back, believers can see how Jesus has brought his people to himself. It was also in the days of Moses, recounted in Moses’ speeches to Israel, written in the Bible book of Deuteronomy, which will be the focus of LW Baptist’s corporate reading in God’s Word.
