The Bible study is currently focused on the Acts of the Apostles. The study meets on Wednesdays at the church from noon-1:15 p.m. People can bring their lunch, Bible and a friend.

Acts 3-7 is about the growth and challenges in Jerusalem, the early expansion of followers of Christ, what Christ-like stewardship looks like, miracles of the apostles and the appointment of deacons. It also covers Stephen’s martyrdom, and the beginning of the first instances of persecution and opposition toward early Christians.

In Acts 8-12, persecutions intensify while the gospel spreads beyond Jerusalem to Judea and Samaria. These chapters also cover the conversion of Saul (Paul) and the inclusion of Gentiles.

The Bible study will cover these themes and more.

The gospel lesson for Sunday, Jan. 18, is from John 1:29-42. Two of John’s followers began following Jesus, who told them to come and see, rather than explain who he was. They began spreading the word of who Jesus is: the Messiah. Peter becomes one of the first of Jesus’ apostles.
