First Christian Church

First Christian Church invites all residents to join its services as it focuses on the teachings of God, from the Holy Bible.

Pastor’s Message

This year the study will continue in the New Testament book of Romans. Romans was written by the Apostle Paul to Christians in Rome. The book of Romans is considered a theological masterpiece and described as the constitution of the Christian faith. Paul’s own words declare the gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew and also to the Greek.

On Sunday, Jan. 11, the church will continue its study in Romans 11, where Paul will address whether the spiritual blindness and deafness of Israel and if it resulted in God rejecting his people. Paul says God has not rejected his people. In verses 11-24, Paul uses the olive tree as a metaphor to represent the nation of Israel and broken natural branches describing the unbelieving Jews and the grafting in of wild olive tree branches representing the believing Gentiles.

Where does that leave the broken natural branches? Paul profoundly writes, “God is able to graft them in again.” The church will study the conditions for regrafting God’s chosen people and the warning to Gentiles to not be arrogant, but to behold the severity of God.
