Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore

On Sunday, Dec. 21, the congregations of Redeemer Lutheran Church and St. Theodore of Canterbury Episcopal Church will celebrate the fourth Sunday of Advent. The Rev. Murray Finck will preside over the holy Communion service at 10:30 a.m. at 13564 St. Andrews Drive. All are welcome to join.

People are welcome to join after the service in the Fellowship Hall for coffee, tea, cookies and snacks with other members of the congregations. There will also be an opportunity to sign up to volunteer for dedicating poinsettias on Christmas and helping with the Christmas Eve brunch. The new flower chart for next year is also available.

The office will be closed on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, and New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31.

A Christmas Eve Holy Communion Service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 24, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Christmas brunch with a light meal and Christmas carols. Nancy Anderson will play the piano for

this gathering. The Gospel lesson is from Matthew 1:18-25. Joseph never speaks in the Gospels, yet we understand his role as foster father to Jesus. He is a righteous and compassionate man, and a protector. He is obedient to the directions God gives his life. There are two descriptions of the naming of the child: Jesus which means “God Saves” and Emmanuel which means “God with us.”
