GRF Executive Manager of Mutual Services Dave Potter (l-r), GRF Executive Director David Norvell and GRF President Linda Herman took the Minibus to the Menorah Lighting Ceremony on Dec. 15 at Veterans Plaza. Herman welcomed the more than 100 audience members and held a moment of silence to mourn the loss of 15 people killed during a Hanukkah celebration at Sydney's Bondi Beach in a terrorist attack Dec. 14. Congregation Sholom's Rabbi Mike Mymon referenced the shooting that left 40 injured, saying that light will overcome the darkness, and the robust turnout at Leisure World's event was evidence that people will not let evil prevail. The rabbi went on to explain the importance of Hanukkah. That was followed by songs from the Temple Beth David Choir. SCAN provided doughnuts for all.
