The Golden Age Foundation (GAF) is looking for authentic cultural performance groups to perform at its multi-cultural event on July 18 in the Amphitheater. The GAF hopes to showcase the beauty and diversity of Leisure World’s 9,500-plus population on one special night.

The GAF is looking for at least six teams who will be ready to perform on the Amphitheater stage during the 90-minute showcase.

Starting in February, the GAF will accept applications from groups who can bring their best cultural dances, songs and musical instruments in a 15-minute segment. Groups are asked to wear colorful costumes to perform either cultural dances or share other traditions of their culture.

The GAF hosted a similar event 11 years ago, featuring six diverse groups: the Filipino Association of Leisure World, Hui O Hula Club, India Club, Korean American Club, Leisure World Cloggers Club and the Vietnamese Club.

The GAF hopes this event and other activities like it will encourage residents to step outside their comfort zone and learn about different cultures and people to help better understand their neighbors.
