The Leisure World America First Republican Club will not have a meeting in December. The next meeting will be held Jan. 21. The America First Republican Club encourages Leisure World residents to stop by the club booth and sign the petition to put the voter ID proposition on the ballot in 2026. Volunteers are available in December to collect signatures on Monday, Wednesday and Friday outside Clubhouse 6 from 9 a.m.-11 a.m.

Support for voter ID and citizenship verification is bipartisan, according to the Public Opinion Strategies poll of California voters taken in late January 2025. ment-issued ID for verification provides a PIN number for everyone. This proposal requires that a free ID be provided for voting upon request from the DMV. Currently, there are laws in 36 states that require voter ID.

By signing this petition, voters are indicating that the people of California should have the opportunity to vote on this proposal in the 2026 election. Upon passage, the voter ID proposition will result in a state constitutional amendment that requires voter ID for casting a ballot in each election and holds state election officials accountable to verify the citizenship of registered voters.
