Qualifi ed applicants encouraged to apply to fund
LW CARES FUND
The Leisure World Cares Fund introduced itself to the community last summer. Since then, based on the number of donors who have come forward, there has been a lot of support expressed for its mission to help provide housing security to Leisure World’s vulnerable residents.
There has not been a signifi cant number of people that have applied for aid. The need exists and it will likely be felt by more residents as the 2026 assessments sink in.
The fund knows that shame may possibly be contributing to the reticence to apply. But every application is kept confidential and all supporting documentation is returned to the applicant after review. The applications are reviewed only by a small team who are practiced in preserving the dignity of the applicant.
Qualified applicants are awarded up to $200 per month for a period of 12 months, which is renewable after an annual review. Funds are paid directly to GRF and credited to the client’s obligations. Awardees to date have expressed a sense of relief upon being approved and look forward to a bit more cushion between their fixed incomes and their expanding expenses.
People can receive help by filling out the application. Application forms can be dropped off and donations can be picked up if that is more convenient.
