First Christian Church

First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the Holy Bible, most often verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.

Pastor’s Message

In Romans 9:14, Paul asks, “Is there unrighteousness with God?” and answers the question in verses 15-16, “Certainly not! For God said to Moses, ‘I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.’” God, in his sovereignty has mercy and does show pity with his sovereignty and justice. As God, he has no unrighteousness in him, all he does is holy and just. In Romans 9:6-16, Paul illustrates God’s sovereignty in the choice and election of patriarchs Abraham and Sarah and Isaac and Rebekah. God chose them in accordance with his plan and his purposes and not based on their righteousness. Compassion and mercy is receiving God’s unmerited favor and forgiveness instead of punishment.

Weekly Services Sunday services from 9:3010:45 a.m. are traditional services with hymnal music led by Janet Ray with Sherry Parmenter at the piano. This week, Gregory Black will bring the special music.

Saturday services from 9:3010:45 a.m. include contemporary songs of worship, led by Black with guitar and vocal accompaniment.

Midweek Studies

Melli Herrera leads the Monday Bible Study from 10:3011:30 a.m. Pastor Bruce Humes leads the Thursday Bible Study from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and the Friday Prayer and Bible Study from 4-5 p.m.
