Wa-Rite is a female-only club that meets on Friday mornings from 9-10 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown. Women who want support on their weight-loss journey and to meet like-minded people are welcome to stop by no later than 8:45 to weigh in and complete the registration paperwork.

In the past week, members lost a total of 22.5 pounds. The biggest loser was Joyce Brannon with a 4-pound loss. She said that eating nuts and grapes and overall smaller portions worked for her.

The queen of the month was Joy Nasser. She said she makes better food choices, has a salad with dinner every evening, and rides her electric tricycle around the community.

Nov. 7 was the Wa-Rite’s business meeting, where members were held accountable for their actions in the past month. The club’s total weight loss for the month was 35.5 pounds with Joy Nasser named a queen of the month with an 8-pound loss. The three members losing the most weight were Julie Campbell, 8.5 pounds; Joy Nasser, 8 pounds; and Nancy Sheets, 6.5 pounds. Members attending every week with no gain were Joy Nasser, Ruth Stewart, Julie Cisneros and Nancy Sheets. The weekly food for thought was: “A new month is a chance for change and a new goal.”

Due to club’s special activities and holiday celebrations in November and December, Wa-Rite will not accept new members until Jan. 9 meeting.
