The American Thanksgiving Day is derived from the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles commemorating Israel’s migration from Egypt to the promised land. It is about giving thanks to the Lord. The Bible says, “Praise the Lord for He is good.” LW Baptist Church takes this biblical command seriously at its next service on Sunday, Nov. 23, at 10 a.m. in Clubhouse 4.

God is good to all his creation, all his creatures. And among them he has chosen people for himself as his own special treasure. The Lord is great and above all gods. He does whatever he pleases. He made all things. In six days, he created the heavens and the earth, the seas and all that is in them. He also exercises his providential care and intervention for them. Historically, Egypt can testify to how God did signs and wonders to deliver his people from bondage. The Lord will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants. He is the living God, as opposed to the idols of the world, which cannot speak or see or hear or breathe. So God’s people are called to rehearse God’s glory and greatness and goodness in detail as it has appeared in history and in their own lives. “Oh the depths of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God. How unsearchable are his judgments and his ways past finding out.”
