Twelve Golden Age Foundation (GAF) volunteers worked together to serve 375 people at the last shredding service of the year on Nov. 12. The volunteers worked hard to keep the drive through line flowing smoothly. The shredding truck driver, Manny Lopez, reported that he had collected 43 barrels documents over the course of the event.

The GAF offers this free quarterly service to Leisure World residents to help them dispose of personal and sensitive documents safely. It is not for business documents, and residents are asked to refrain from bringing business documents to the event.

The GAF thanks those who generously donated during the shredding event. Donations makes events like this possible.

The GAF also thanks volunteers Carl Kennedy, Harry Varnas, Charlie Dunn, Fara Mc-Cartney, Geneva Popepan, Dave Forney, Lisa Brass, Shery Wells, Karen Witttham, James Dooley and Anna Derby for their help during the event.

Special thanks also goes to Security Services Director Victor Rocha and Security Services Manager Larry Norlander for guiding traffic during the event.

The donations collected from the event totaled about $900, which will be used to buy more battery recycling boxes.

The next shredding event will be held March 11, 2026.
