Community Church
Community Church will hold its annual Veterans Day “Sock It to ‘Em” sock drive. People can bring new packages of men’s and women’s white athletic socks to the Sunday worship on Nov. 9 or to the church office during the week. People can also provide a cash/ check donation toward the purchase of socks instead. They will be given to the Veterans Administration for distribution around Veterans Day, Nov. 11.
Community Church offers a free weekly discussion on the book “A Course in Miracles” facilitated by Abby Stevens every Tuesday at 1 p.m. For more information on “A Course in Miracles,” visit www.acim.org.
Christmas is just around the corner, and Community Church will begin celebrating the season of Advent this Sunday with a look at the hypothetical story of one bride for seven brothers in the Gospel of Luke. The word gospel means “good news,” and Advent means the arrival of something notable. So, this Sunday Community Church will be looking at the news of the arrival of something good.
Those who are looking for a progressive faith community where questions are welcome to join Community Church. People are also welcome to join Community Church’s Coffee with the Pastor on Thursdays 10 a.m. This is a great low-key opportunity to meet Pastor Johan Dodge and some of the members of the church before attending a service. All are welcome who are welcoming to all.
Community Church meets for worship every Sunday at 9:50 a.m. at 14000 Church Place near the St. Andrews Gate.
