Protect Important Documents
The Emergency Information Council will hold its eighth free vital document scanning event on Monday, Oct. 20, from 1:30-3 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 8.
Residents can bring their wills, stock and membership certificates, medical power of attorney documents and other important papers to be scanned onto a free USB flash drive. Driver’s license and credit cards will be copied and scanned as well. The flash drive can easily fit in emergency go bags or be given to relatives to make it easier for them to locate important information.
Waterproof canisters and fireproof bags to keep the drive and original documents safe will be available for a nominal fee. Residents who have attended previous scanning events can bring additional documents to be scanned onto their flash drive for free. For more information about the Emergency Information Council, visit www.eiclwsb.org.
Scanning important documents onto a flash drive can ensure they don't get lost in a fire or natural disaster.
