LW Men’s Golf Club
All golfers need to continue to repair their ball marks on all greens to prevent the greens from being shut down again, as well as raking sand traps. There are now two rakes at each bunker, so there is no excuse not to rake shoe prints.
The LW Men’s Golf Club held its first tournament of the month on Oct. 8 at the Turtle Lake Golf Course.
Fifty-six golfers teed off starting at 7:30 a.m. Each man competed for best net scores (gross score minus handicap), plus four circle holes (shots within a 5-foot radius rewarded), and two closest to the pin challenges.
With good course conditions and satisfactory weather, 27 of the 56 men scored net at or under par, and there were 66 birdies and 12 circle hole winners. Closest to the pin on hole No. 8 was Bill Lyons at 6 feet 6 inches, and on No. 17 it was Ron Jackson at 1 foot 10 inches.
Low net scores for the round were Lyons at 6 under 48; Rolando Ramirez, 5 under 49; and Won G. Park, 4 under 50. Low gross scores were Lyons, 48; Pat Paternoster, 53; and Gene Archambault, even par 54.
A flight winners (handicaps of 0-5): Lyons, first place; Archambault, second; Paternoster and Bob Turner, third; Dave LaCascia and Thomas Kim, fourth; Jae Choi, fifth; Ralph Koizumi, Walter Kim and Mike Mayfield, sixth.
B flight winners (handicaps of 6-11): Ramirez, first place; Jae H. Lee, second; Glenn Barry and Tom Owens, third; Trai Nguyen and Jun Um, fourth; Richard Yokomi, John Rudosky and Jack Haskins, fifth.
C flight winners (handicaps of 12-18): Won G. Park, first place; Dennis Jensen, second; Noe Alcaraz, Paul Shellenberger, Byron Schweitzer, Jon Russell and Rod Osgood, third.
