LW Men’s Golf League

On Sept. 19, 12 golfers from the Leisure World Men’s League and guest Johnny Valencia competed at the Meadowlark Golf Course in Huntington Beach.

Five golfers shot net under par, and there were five birdies, three by Kyle Van and one each by Sam Choi and Fujio Norihiro. Choi was closest to the pin on 140-yard par 3 17th hole and Van was closest on the 150-yard par 3 16th hole.

A flight winners (net score: gross minus handicap): Van, first place; Norihiro, second; Gary Stivers and Choi, third; Scott Pickett, fourth; Jeff Pickett, fifth.

B flight winners: Won Park, first place; Gene Vesely and Mike Jimenez, second; Steve Miller, Randy Massaro and Bob Munn, third.

On Sept. 22, nine golfers challenged the par 62 David L. Baker Executive Golf Course in Fountain Valley. Eight of the nine players shot net at or under par. There were three birdies— two by Jim Goltra and one by Bob Munn. Gary Stivers and Tom Ross had fewest putts.

A flight winners: Goltra, first place; Sam Choi, second; Stivers and Fujio Norihiro, third; Jae Choi, fourth.

B flight winners: Bruno Santillo, first place; Bob Munn, second; Ron Jackson, third; Ross, fourth.

The Monday and Friday golf leagues play at five local courses, all within 15-20 minutes of Leisure World. Advance league reservations are required with a sign-up sheet available at each round.
