LW Men’s Golf Club next tournament is Oct. 8

The Leisure World Men’s Golf Club held its second tournament of the month on Sept. 24 at Turtle Lake Golf Course. The weather was sunny and warm, and the golf course was in excellent condition.

Fifty-six players gathered to compete over 18 holes for low net score, which is gross score minus handicap, as well as two closest to the pin challenges, and four circle hole opportunities. There were 66 birdies and five circle holes, but no holes-in-one. Closest to the pin on No. 8 was Thomas Kim, and on No. 17 it was Jae Choi.

A flight winners: Jae Choi, first place; Mark Rice, second; Dong On Kim, third; Pat Paternoster, Ralph Koizumi and Mike Mayfield, fourth; Seon Kim and Bill Phone, fifth; Walter Kim and Gene Archambault, sixth.

B flight winners: James Farr, first place; Steve Walker, second; Thomas Kim, third; Andrew Kim, fourth; Jack Haskins, fifth; Trai Nguyen, John Burns, Kevin Linstedt, Bill Zurn and Rolando Ramirez, sixth.

C flight winners: Daniel Mahoney, first place; Won Song and Rueban Garcia, second; Dennis Jensen and Darry Holten, third; Noe Alcatraz, Mike Fennessy, Jon Russell, Won G. Park and Rod Osgood, fourth.

The next men’s tournaments will be on Oct. 8 and Oct. 22. The Guys and Gals tournament will be on Oct. 15, and a special scramble/shotgun will be held on Oct. 29. Look for details on the bulletin boards at the starter shack.
