Church unity is topic on Sunday
LW BAPTIST
The Leisure World Baptist Church holds Sunday service at 10 a.m. in Clubhouse 4. Everyone is welcome to the Sunday service and midweek prayer and Bible study at 3 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. The Sunday sermon topic is church unity.
Apostle Paul’s 13 New Testament letters show his heart for the unity of Christ’s Church worldwide. He reminds the Christians of what Christ is doing beyond their own community.
Leisure World Baptist Church also has an outreach program through missionaries in various places of the world. As Christ’s missionary to the Mediterranean world, Paul was concerned that Christian believers everywhere had love and concern for one another, not just for those they knew personally, but even for distant churches whose testimony of faith had reached them.
So it is he who encouraged the churches to send relief to the poverty stricken Christians in Jerusalem in the first century.
Eager to manage financial responsibilities in a way that would commend itself to every inquiry, he assigned respected Christian leaders to help the churches manage this giving to God’s work. He summed up his Christian conviction about this matter in the famous statement: “It is required of stewards that they be found trustworthy.” In other words, he saw all Christians as stewards of God’s trust.
