Buddha Circle Meditation
Buddha Circle’s member Vanessa Nguyen will lead Metta Meditation (Loving Kindness Meditation), followed by health qigong sessions, available to all interested participants at no cost.
Metta meditation offers documented benefits for mental, emotional and physical well-being. This practice encourages self-compassion, alleviates stress and anxiety, reduces physical discomfort, promotes longevity, and enhances interpersonal relationships.
Health qigong provides significant advantages for seniors’ physical and mental health, including improved balance and coordination, increased strength and flexibility, enhanced cardiovascular and respiratory function through deep breathing, and stimulation of the lymphatic system, which can improve heart and respiratory fitness.
It also aids in injury prevention and accelerates recovery. Additional mental and emotional benefits include reduced stress, better sleep quality, increased focus and awareness, and greater emotional equilibrium. Furthermore, health qigong has been noted for its anti-inflammatory effects, which may alleviate symptoms associated with chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis, as well as those related to COPD and chronic heart failure.
Residents can join Nguyen on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. The first hour consists of 30 minutes of meditation, followed by one hour dedicated to qigong practice. The group will also meet on Tuesdays, Oct. 7, 14 and 21 from 1-3 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 7.
