LW MEN'S GOLF LEAGUE
Eight golfers of the Leisure World Men’s Golf League competed at the 4,000-yard par 62 David L. Baker Golf Course in Fountain Valley on Sept. 12.
Comfortable weather and good playing conditions led to seven of the eight golfers shooting net at or under par with several very good scores. There were two birdies—one each by Sam Choi and Ron Jackson. Won Park was closest to the pin on the 110-yard par 3 fourth hole, and Fujio Norihiro was closest to the pin on the 100-yard par 3 15th. Gary Stivers had fewest putts for the A flight, and Gene Vesely had fewest in the B. Additionally, Fujio Norihiro had a hole-in-one on the 130-yard par 3 10th hole.
A flight winners (net score: gross minus handicap): Stivers, 9 under, first place; Choi, 8 under, second; Norihiro, 6 under, third; Clay Fisher, fourth.
B flight winners: Park, 6 under, first place; Vesely and Bob Munn, 5 under, second; Jackson, even par, third.
Thirteen golfers played at the 6,000-yard par 71 Willowick Golf Course in Santa Ana on Sept. 12.
With the course length, warm weather and soggy playing conditions, only five of the 13 golfers shot net at or below par. Gary Stivers was closest to the pin on the 140-yard par 3 fourth hole, and Fisher was closest on the 140-yard par 3 12th hole.
