Final AuthorSpeak Event: Oct. 3 Final AuthorSpeak Event: Oct. 3

The LW Library’s final AuthorSpeak event of the year will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, inside Clubhouse 4.

Stephen Witt is the author of two nonfiction books. His newest book, “The Thinking Machine,” is the story of Nvidia’s determined CEO, Jensen Huang, who defied Wall Street to push his radical vision for computing and become one of the wealthiest men alive. It’s also the story of an awesome and terrifying AI future, which Huang has billed as the “next industrial revolution,” as a new kind of microchip unlocks hyper-realistic avatars, autonomous robots, self-driving cars, and new movies, art and books, generated on command.

His first book, “How Music Got Free,” traces the compelling events behind the creation of the MP3 file format and the thieves and pirates responsible for the music piracy boom of the 1990s. “How Music Got Free” was adapted into a documentary which is streaming now on Paramount+.

The presentation begins at 11 a.m. Arrive as early as 10:30 a.m. to enjoy refreshments provided by the library and to find preferred seating. Books will be available for purchase.
