CPR classes to resume Sept. 27
EMERGENCY INFORMATION COUNCIL
The Leisure World Emergency Information Council (EIC) is offering onsite American Heart Association certified CPR and first aid classes. The next scheduled CPR class will be held Sept. 27, in Clubhouse 3, Room 3. First aid classes are scheduled to alternate with the CPR classes on Saturdays through Nov. 22.
An important element in being self-sufficient and on your own during an emergency is having up-to-date life-saving knowledge and skills. The EIC has partnered with Marc Woodward, owner of Prime CPR Services, to provide hands-on training with real life exercises and simulations that provide a realistic learning experience.
Woodward has 23 years of experience as a firefighter and paramedic. The first aid class starts with the basics and includes the instructions what to do in medical emergencies, injury emergencies and environmental emergencies. The CPR class includes performing high-quality CPR alone and with others, how to use an AED and how to help a choking victim.
All residents and their caregivers, relatives or friends are encouraged to sign up. The classes will be held on Saturdays from 9 a.m.-noon in Clubhouse 3, Room 3. There is a limit of 12 students per class with a minimum of 10 students needed for each class. The fee for each class is $45. Students who want a related Red Cross certification card must pay an additional fee. Reservations must be made a week in advance by contacting EIC President Jackie Dunagan at 562-431-7479 or jackie919@gmail.com.
