VECTOR CONTROL

Mosquito samples collected by the Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District continue to test positive for West Nile virus. Positive mosquito samples have been collected in Anaheim, Garden Grove, Cypress and Orange.

No humans have been infected with the virus.

Seniors are at higher risk for serious illness related to West Nile virus due to age-related changes in immune function and increased susceptibility to neuroinvasive diseases, which can lead to symptoms like confusion, paralysis and even death.

People should take preventive measures such as using insect repellent, wearing lightcolored clothing, and eliminating mosquito breeding grounds by removing sources of standing water from their yards and patio areas.
