Lose pounds and gain friends with Wa-Rite
Wa-Rite is a female-only club that meets on Friday mornings from 9-10 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weigh-ins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown. Women who want support on their weight-loss journey and to meet like-minded people are welcome to stop by no later than 8:45 to weigh in and complete the registration paperwork. On Aug. 22, members learned that the club lost a total of 16.2 pounds for the week. Jeanette Williams was the biggest loser with a 3-pound loss. She started new habits that help her with weight loss, such as eating dinner at 5 p.m. every day.
Lisa Brass and Henrietta Peavy demonstrated how to use a Yonanas frozen dessert making machine. All it takes is some frozen fruits like bananas, berries, peaches or any other seasonal fruits that turn into a delicious, sorbet-like tasting low-calorie treat.
The weekly food for thought was: “Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can!”
