LW Baptist Church
LW Baptist meets on Sundays in Clubhouse 4 at 10 a.m. to worship God for sending his son, Jesus Christ, into the world to save the world. The Bible calls this the gospel of peace that Christ brought at his first coming. It defines Christ’s love for all mankind as his desire that none will perish, but rather come to repentance. It was this love that led to the conversion of Saul of Tarsus (who, once saved, went by Paul) and transformed him into a preacher of the gospel.
Paul explained that God had satisfied his holy wrath against all mankind’s sin through the voluntary, sinless, substitutionary and penal death of Christ in the sinner’s place. The story of Barabbas pictures this substitution. Barabbas went free, and Jesus died on the cross. Paul was amazed when he learned this and called others likewise to grateful repentance, faith and conversion in Jesus Christ. When Jesus comes the second time, he will bring all persons, the living and the dead, before his tribunal for judgment.
All New Testament writers agree that the basis for judgment will be whether or not each person has received God’s offer of peace in the atoning death of God’s son for their sins. Otherwise they face eternal punishment for ungratefully rejecting the only salvation God offers.
