On Friday, Aug. 15, Dr. Shadi Vahdat will give a presentation to the Sunshine Club titled “Navigating Hospital Care: Stay Safe, Avoid Pitfalls, Get the Best Care.” The meeting will be in Clubhouse 3, Room 2, at 10 a.m.
Dr. Vahdat has over 20 years of expertise in hospital and primary care, as well as holistic approaches to health. She is graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, and Albert Einstein College of Medicine and has worked across a spectrum of healthcare environments including nonprofit clinics, private practice, and academic hospital settings.
Dr. Vahdat’s dual role as a hospital physician and as a caregiver for her loved ones has afforded her a 360-degree view of the healthcare experience. Her insights, drawn from overcoming real-life challenges, fuel her drive to clarify the healthcare system for both patients and caregivers through her writing.
At the meeting, she will share some of the highlights from her book, “The Roadmap to Hospital Care, Insights on Preparing for Health Emergencies and Hospital Stays with Confidence.” The book is a practical guide for patients and caregivers offering clear, actionable advice on choosing hospitals and providers, preparing advance directives, avoiding unnecessary hospital visits, risks of a prolonged hospital stay and discharge planning.
