Dress up for beach-themed acoustic show on Aug. 29
LW GONG CLUB
The Gong Club will host a summer jam session in Clubhouse 2 on Friday, Aug. 29. Doors open at 6 p.m. for happy hour. The theme is beach casual, and people are encouraged to come dressed in sundresses, beach shorts, crazy sunglasses and wacky beach hats. The best dressed will win a prize.
The evening will be filled with acoustic renderings performed by David Brito, Laura Gardner and Ziggy Romano. Brito will bring to the stage his sounds from percussion instruments. Gardner’s vocals will compliment Romano’s magic fingers that dance across the keyboard. The show’s new theme will be different from various ‘70s rock style concerts and switch things up to showcase these performers’ talents in alternative genres, which haven’t been shared in the past. The performance will feature easy breathing music with songs such as the “The Girl From Ipanema,” “Sway” and more.
Coffee, hot tea and ice will be available. Snacks will be provided. The show is free, but tips to the musicians are appreciated.
The Gong Club is also collecting donations to help keep the shows going. Colorful bead necklaces will go to folks making donations of $5 or more. Helpers are always welcome to help set up. For more information, call club president Lu DeSantis at 310-686-4763.
