Faith Christian Assembly
On the last day, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart,’” John 7:37-39a.
Jesus was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him.
The golf-themed devotional “Go for the Green” by Jeff Hopper brings to memory a quote by Sam Torrance, victorious European Ryder Cup captain of 2002: “All I did was lead them to the water, and they drank copious amounts.” This prompts the question to believers, “When was the last time you drank copious amounts of the ‘living water?’” Jesus has given living water, his spirit. Without his spirit, people experience spiritual thirst.
Jesus invites people to a life more abundant. When people come to him, he quenches the thirst of the soul.
“And the Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let him who hears say, ‘Come!’ And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely,” Revelation 22:17.
Faith Christian Assembly will study what it means to drink the living water further on Sunday, July 27, at 10:30 a.m. The midweek Bible Study is held Wednesday at 11 a.m.
