Community Speed Limit: 25 MPH
The speed limit in Leisure World is 25 miles per hour, which aligns with the state’s speed limit for business or residential districts, school zones, playground areas and senior facilities.
The purpose of the 25 mile-per-hour limit in residential areas is to enhance safety for both pedestrians and drivers. Lower speeds significantly reduce the risk of accidents and injuries, especially in residential areas where there are high numbers of pedestrians and cyclists. Low-speed collisions are much less likely to cause serious injuries or fatalities. Driving at low speeds also increases a driver’s ability to react to obstacles and respond to posted signage.
Drivers who violate the speed limit are subject to moving violations from the Seal Beach Police Department.
Signs near the Main Gate indicate the speed limit.
